Lip Blush Aftercare

Art is created in studio. Results are made at home.

Your Lip Blush appointment might be finished, but the work isn’t quite done yet.

Aftercare really is that important.

For the first few days your lips are healing from a cosmetic tattoo, which means keeping them clean, hydrated and protected is going to have a huge impact on how beautifully they heal and retain colour.

Day 1

For the rest of your treatment day, every hour:

Gently pat a clean, damp cotton pad over your lips to keep them clean and remove any lymph build up.

No scrubbing. No rubbing. Just a gentle pat.

Once clean, reapply your supplied aftercare ointment to keep the lips protected and hydrated.

Keeping on top of this on Day 1 helps prevent lymph drying onto the lips and creating thicker scabbing later.

And when you’re eating, eat like a Kardashian 😂 Small bites, keep food off your lips as much as possible, and avoid anything super spicy, salty or messy.

Days 2–5

This is when your aftercare ointment becomes your new emotional support item.

Carry it EVERYWHERE.

After brushing your teeth, gently cleanse your lips using the cleanser supplied in your aftercare kit, pat them dry and reapply your ointment.

Throughout the day, continue applying your ointment whenever your lips begin to feel dry or tight.

The goal is simple:

Clean + hydrated + left alone.

Your lips may feel dry, tight or begin lightly flaking during these days. This is completely normal.

What to avoid for the first week

For at least 7 days, avoid:

  • Heavy sweating

  • Steam rooms

  • Saunas

  • Swimming

  • Anything that leaves your lips soaking wet or exposed to bacteria

For the girls who simply cannot survive without the gym, I’ll accept a light session 😭 but plssss keep your lips clean, dry and hydrated.

Trust me. I’ll know. 👀

Hands off the lips

For the first 5 days, there is:

No picking.
No scratching.
No peeling.
No kissing.
And no… other activities involving the lips either 🤫

Even if there’s one tiny flake hanging on for dear life, leave her alone.

We’ve created lots of tiny openings in the skin during your treatment, so your lips need to be treated like a healing wound. Picking, touching or exposing them to unnecessary bacteria can increase your risk of infection and affect your healed colour.

Let the flakes come away naturally.

SPF is non negotiable

From around Day 5, once the initial healing and flaking has settled, start using an SPF lip balm every day.

Continue this for at least the first 4 weeks, although forever would be even better.

UV exposure can cause cosmetic tattoo pigment to fade faster and can affect the colour over time, so SPF is one of the easiest ways to protect your investment.

The next 4–6 weeks

This is where I need you to trust. the. process.

Over the next few weeks your lips are going to go through plenty of changes as the swelling settles and your skin heals.

Your colour may:

Look very bright at first.

Become patchy while flaking.

Fade dramatically.

Look like it has almost completely disappeared.

And then slowly begin to return.

There will probably be a moment around the 2 week mark where you look in the mirror and think:

“Holy sh*t… all that for nothing?”

Stay strong

This stage is completely normal.

As the skin continues to heal, your colour will gradually resurface and soften into the finished result over the following weeks.

Your true healed Lip Blush colour is assessed at around 4–6 weeks, which is why we never judge the result too early.

Your only job?

Keep them clean.

Keep them hydrated.

Keep your hands off them.

Wear your SPF.

And trust the process.

I create the art in studio. You protect the results at home. 🤍
